“It is our choices, Harry, that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities.”
895. Muggleborns wonder why there’s a large group of friendly, teenage ghosts around Hogwarts. They’re led by a funny boy with red hair who likes to joke around with Peeves, and he always says that they’re Dumbledore’s Last Army.
I’ve cried myself dry.
Bethann Hardison on racism in the fashion industry.
From About Face: Supermodels then and now
"the word aesthetic is borderline racist at this point"
Ok I see how this is controversial but also when you think about the other side these designers are artists and we can’t really infringe on their vision… We don’t have to support them and make a statement by not buying their clothes but I don’t think it’s right to change someone’s vision of something that they worked hard on and also I don’t think the models would be happy either because for any job it’s safe to assume that you want to be hired for your work ethic and how well you perform your job not because the designer was forced to have more diversity. Also what if that one black girl was supposed to be the finale look and the designer wanted her to be special and stand out from the rest of the models also what if the other 35 models weren’t white but Japanese or Chinese or Brazilian like there’s not enough information to assume this was a racial matter..
If the designers vision is a 35/1 white to black model ratio then the vision is inherently racist, and using a black girl as a finale seems kind of…. Strange to me. I think ideally an even ratio of color for a show is better than an almost entirely white with the spotlight on one black girl like I don’t see why it’s okay to single one black girl out if everyone else who walks down that cat walk is mostly white. And you cannot you absolutely cannot deny a lot of designers adhere to Eurocentric beauty standards like that cannot be disputed, so there is pretty obvious evidence that this is a racial matter, and having one black girl in the show doesn’t automatically absolve the designer of that regardless of their vision and aesthetic, it’s not about their vision or their aesthetic it’s about representation because I’m sure that’s more important in the grander scheme of things no?
But we don’t know that the 35 other girls are white there’s nothing that tells us this we just know one of them is black. Like we don’t have the full story here
It’s an example you dick why is this even up for debate like didn’t it click when the designer called for a single black girl probably just to save his ass could well be a racist designer? This whole interview wouldn’t have happened if it wasn’t a racial matter like okay I admit I wasn’t at this particular show and I don’t pay much attention to the fashion world but if there’s one thing that’s blatantly obvious it’s that it’s a racist industry so I don’t see why you have trouble believing that what that she’s saying is wholly credible. White models still far outnumber models of color and that’s the truth.
Two MSU basketball players raped a woman in the dorms then one admitted to it. Their only consequence was that they had to move out of the dorms. This picture is of me and one other woman holding up this banner during Midnight Madness. Two other brave souls had a banner on the other side for a while before some jerk started playing tug or war with them over it. This was taken before we got booed at by 10,000 people and police escorted from the stadium.
How screwed up are people to boo at this?
Let’s keep reposting this. Rapists should be charged.
